DESCRIPTION
The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range offers you unexpectedly wild and diverse scenery. You will climb its highest peaks like ‘Puig Massanella’ and ‘Puig Tomir’, which offer you outstanding 360 degree views of the island. On other days you remain a bit lower and walk through the valleys, enjoying the peace and tranquillity. In this holiday, the famous torrents of Pareis and Mortitx are also included, all selected for their accessibility for good hikers but without equipment. During your hikes you will have many opportunities to observe the Black Vulture from nearby, as it flies over the peaks of the Tramuntana Mountains.

In this travel we will climb summits and explore Mallorca´s most impressive gorges with local specialized guides. This is certainly not suited for people with fear of heights, you have to be in a good physical condition since walks are very demanding. Our luxury ecological rural hotel Monnaber Nou has Spa facilities and outstanding kitchen to recuperate from the efforts during the day.

PROGRAM

Day 1. ARRIVAL TO PALMA DE MALLORCA

Depending on time of arrival we will do a very pretty walk in the backlands of Campanet surrouding our Ecological Rural Hotel of Monnaber Nou.

Accommodation: Hotel Rural Monnàber Nou

Day 2. SMUGGLE ROUTE FROM LLUC TO CAIMARI

This old smuggling route, which used to bring tobacco or penicillin to the Palma region, is nowadays almost forgotten, the path being overgrown in many places. Because the main connection to Lluc is the GR-221 from Caimari, you will hardly encounter anyone, so you can enjoy the Serra de Tramuntana in solitary splendor.

17 km, 400 +, 800 -, 6 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

Day 3. TORENT DE MORTITX

The ‘Torrent de Mortitx’ lies on the estate of Mortitx, one of the very few private properties that are open to the public. The route takes you over abandoned olive groves to the curious ‘Ses Coves de les Sis Bruixes’ right at sea level. You will not easily forget this beautiful hidden corner of the Serra de Tramuntana. In the winter months you might get a bit wet returning through the gorge. Nevertheless it is accessible year round without special equipment.

12 km,  500 +, 500 -, 6 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

Day 4. MASSANELLA SUMMIT FROM LLUC

Puig Massanella is the highest peak in Mallorca accessible to the public. The slightly higher Puig Mayor is closed to the public since it is a military base. When you climb out of the Holm Oak forest you have extensive views of the alpine-like landscape. Here cool winds will refresh you, even in the hot summer months. Along the way you will have the opportunity to observe ‘snow houses’, which, many years ago, were used to make ice for cooling in the long hot summers. Once at the Massanella summit you will have a magnificent view of Mallorca, this one you will not easily forget.

16 km,  950 +, 950 -, 8 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

Day 5. CUBER LAKE AND TOSSALS VERDS SUMMIT

Cúber and Gorg Blau are the two major water basins spectacularly situated on the flanks of Mallorca’s highest mountain – Puig Mayor. You will walk through a very dense Holm Oak forest in the direction of the mountain refuge of Tossals Verds. The Mallorcan wild goat, with its distinctive brown fur and black stripe on its back, can frequently be seen wandering in these forests. If you feel up to it you have the option to climb the summit of Tossals Verds or you can just relax around the water spring ‘Font des Prat’.

15 km,  750 +, 750 -, 6,5 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

Day 6. GORGE DE PARREIS

The streams of Gorg Blau and Lluc come together in the protected natural monument of Torrent de Parreis. With vertical walls up to 200 meters high, this stream bed, which reaches the sea at Sa Calobra, is possibly the most impressive natural wonder of Mallorca. Although not accessible without proper equipment during the winter months, from March to October anyone in good physical shape can enjoy this fabulous route.

15 km,  300 +, 1000 -, 7 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

Day 7. VULTURE OF BALITX AND COASTAL ROUTE TO CALA TUENT

The valley of Balitx is hidden behind spectacular cliffs which renders it accessible from only one side. From ‘Ses Barques’ you follow a dirt road which brings you to the heart of this peaceful hidden valley. The only island population of Black Vultures worldwide finds it´s refuge here, so you can be almost sure to spot one in the area. The impressive coastal route to Cala Tuent takes you through a lost corner of the Serra de Tramuntana far away from the mass tourism. A taxi will be waiting for you to take you back to Soller along Mallorca’s most scenic mountain road.

21 km, 1050 +, 1030 -, 7 hours

Accomodation: Rural Hotel Monnàber Nou

OUR VISION

A green planet full of wilderness areas. Increasing awareness of our role within nature while our own children educate their parents. The rural environment as generator of opportunities while interpretative guides are capacitated and committed, inspiring and transmitting sustainability values.

WILDERNESS: The most intact, undisturbed wild natural areas left on our planet, those last truly wild places governed by natural processes that humans do not control and have not developed.   “The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness”,  John Muir.

NATURE CONSERVATION: The protection of natural resources and landscapes, including biodiversity of plant and animal species. Taking in account historical, cultural and spiritual heritage.   “What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another”,  Mahatma Gandhi.

ECOTOURISM: Responsible travel to natural areas that protect the environment and improves the well-being of local people.   “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world”,  Gustave Flaubert.

OUR PRODUCTS: Primary or secondary education courses, nature youth camps, family experiences, survival trainings, nature expeditions, wildlife observation, profesional guide training, consultancy in nature conservation, sustainable tourism and socio-economic development.

The Spirit of Nature is always our main ingredient! Logo EspirituNature
