WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOP A. WILD FOOD

All our food originally comes from mother nature and therefore has its wild representative. But there also exist many eatable plants that we do not know about, we do not know what benefits they may have for our health and we cannot even recognize them. Shall we make a nice soup out of fresh Nettles? Or a fresh salad with Dandelion or Clover? There are much more possibilities than you might think…

WORKSHOP B. ELABORATION OF TOOLS

Would you like to be able to make your own spoon? During this course we will work with the best timber species to be found in Spain such as Beech, Olive and Boxwood. We could make mortars, spoons, hammers and many other useful tools for our kitchen, garden or house.

WORKSHOP C. WATER AND FIRE

Knowing how and where to find water is essential for any survival situation. There is more then you would think, even in deserts. We learn how to find, how to extract water and finally how to filter the water with improvised available materials. Fire is not always our enemy, knowing how it works is knowing how to prevent it from getting out of control. Our ancestors did not have lighters or matches, in this course we learn how they did it! Forest fire prevention is an essential part of this workshop.

WORKSHOP D. BIVOUAC AND NIGHT SHELTERS

In any case it is better not to get lost while out in the mountains, but if it happens we must know what to do. Find or build a shelter for the night or simply to pass a rain storm, hard winds or even snow. We learn about different techniques that exist to construct a shelter, improvising with available materials. Would you dare to spend the night in it?

WORKSHOP E. FIRST AID

What would you do in case a friend gets hurt while out in the mountains? How would you act in case of a bleeding or when somebody simply twists an ankle. There are many easy ways to transport our victims in case we are too far out for a car to reach us. We learn to distinguish for which injuries we can help and for which we should ask for professional help right away. To know how to ask for help from a professional rescue service and how to support them in their work can be crucial in the survival of the victim.
